Overview
Janathakshan works across interconnected development and environmental sectors to build resilient communities, inclusive systems, and a low-carbon future. Our programmes respond to national and local priorities while addressing the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development.
We implement integrated interventions in waste management, circular economy, low-carbon development, renewable energy, and natural resource management, promoting resource efficiency and environmentally responsible practices. At the community level, Janathakshan supports livelihood development, agriculture and food security, water management, and urban planning, ensuring that development outcomes are inclusive, climate-resilient, and sustainable.
Equity and resilience are central to our work. We prioritize disability-inclusive development, gender-inclusive development, disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate change adaptation, and resilience building, while strengthening institutional and community capacities through targeted capacity-building initiatives. Through strong partnerships with government, civil society, academia, and the private sector, Janathakshan delivers practical, scalable solutions that contribute to long-term, people-centred development across Sri Lanka.
