Janathakshan Staff Trained on Safety and Security Policy

On 25th February 2025, a comprehensive training session on Safety and Security Policy was conducted for Janathakshan staff at Berjaya Hotel, Mount Lavinia, led by Dr. M. Kamil. A total of 43 Janathakshan staff members participated in the session, receiving essential training on safety protocols, dos and don’ts, precautionary measures, rights, and procedures to enhance organizational safety and security practices under the project ‘Reducing Disaster Risk Including Disability and Strengthening Climate Change Adaptation through Empowering Marginalized Communities in Sri Lanka’, implemented by Janathakshan Guarantee Limited with financial support from the Christian Blind Mission (CBM).

As part of Janathakshan’s commitment to building a robust safety and security framework, the organization has developed a safety and security support network aimed at providing ongoing assistance to project staff and stakeholders. This network brings together local authorities, community leaders, and trained personnel to establish a responsive, well-coordinated system that ensures safety during emergencies.

Participants who had previously undergone security and safeguarding training contributed to the establishment of the support network, ensuring that the strategies learned in the training are practically implemented. The network also engages key government agencies and community-based organizations, reflecting a multi-stakeholder approach to managing potential risks and emergencies.

The creation of this network is a vital step in promoting a safe environment for marginalized communities and advancing inclusive disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation efforts.

Stay tuned for more updates on how Janathakshan continues to prioritize safety and security across its projects.
