About Us
Welcome to Janathakshan, where our motto, “WE THINK GREEN! WE ACT GREEN!” encapsulates the core of our ethos. Established in 2011, Janathakshan Guarantee Limited is a non-profit organization operating under the “people’s technology” or “technology for people” philosophy. Rooted in a legacy that traces back to Practical Action (www.practicalaction.org) in Sri Lanka, we have dedicated 25 years to enhancing neglected communities across the nation.
The term “Janathakshan” itself embodies our Sanskrit-inspired “People’s Technology” ideology. Our existence is shaped by the timeless message of Nobel laureate Dr. E.F. Schumacher – “Small is Beautiful.”
From the outset, we have introduced eco-friendly technologies that harmonize with the natural world. We tread lightly when managing resources, ensuring their viability for future generations. Our inclusive collaborations bridge the gap between producers and consumers, reduce climate risks, and provide cleaner energy choices.
Recognized as leaders in green technologies, we pioneer environmentally friendly solutions, aligning with the natural rhythms of the environment. In the face of global challenges, we acknowledge Sri Lanka’s vulnerability to an acute economic crisis, introducing new obstacles.
As a signatory to global frameworks such as the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals, Sri Lanka is committed to significant contributions. Civil society organizations play a crucial role in developing sustainable solutions, and as a leading CSO, Janathakshan GTE Ltd is committed to formulating inclusive and sustainable strategies.
We intensify efforts to maintain local and international relationships and partnerships, widen our outreach, and contribute to a “sustainable and equitable future.” We have our head office in Colombo and field offices in Anuradhapura, Trincomalee, and Kurunegala districts.
