As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental education and community engagement, Janathakshan GTE Ltd. successfully organized a School Art Competition on June 5, 2025, at St. Xavier’s College, in celebration of World Environment Day 2025. This initiative was carried out under the PHINLA Project, co-funded by the German Corporation BMZ and World Vision Germany.
The art competition was a vibrant platform for students to creatively express their thoughts and ideas on this year’s World Environment Day theme: “Beat Plastic Pollution.” The competition was conducted in three categories based on grade levels:
Grade 6–7
Grade 8–9
Grade 10–11
Janathakshan provided all necessary art materials and supplies, ensuring that students had equal opportunity and resources to participate. The judging panel, comprising schoolteachers and the school principal, selected the winners based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and artistic expression. Winners were awarded certificates and prizes, which were also facilitated through the project.
Following the competition, an awareness session was conducted for all participating students, focusing on this year’s theme. The session aimed to increase student understanding of:
The harmful impacts of plastic pollution on ecosystems and human health
Responsible consumption of plastic products
The 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
The innovative concept of “Resource Banks” promoted under the PHINLA project to manage household waste more effectively and reduce environmental harm
The session was interactive and engaging, providing students with practical knowledge and empowering them to be change-makers in their own communities.
This event not only fostered creativity and environmental awareness among the younger generation but also strengthened the school’s role as a catalyst for sustainable practices.
