Following the extreme weather conditions and the escalating disaster situation across Sri Lanka, Janathakshan immediately convened an emergency meeting to assess ground realities and identify where our support was most urgently needed.
As Janathakshan, we organized ourselves to extend support to the Disaster Management Centre (DMC). We activated our role within the Sri Lanka Preparedness Partnership (SLPP), stepping forward both as the sub-grantee and Co-Chair of the SLPP network.
Our team reviewed disaster updates from DMC, the Department of Meteorology, NBRO, and the Department of Irrigation and quickly collaborated with SLPP partners to coordinate a united, timely response.
Under the leadership of the SLPP Co-Chairs, an urgent Steering Committee meeting was held to discuss collective actions. Together, we agreed to strengthen national emergency response efforts, especially the Disaster Management Centre’s 117 Emergency Hotline.
This marked the beginning of our volunteer mission.
Janathakshan stands committed to supporting the country in this critical time.
